As our revenue continues to grow and diversify, including the management of several time- and purpose-restricted grants, we are growing our finance and operations team. Reshma Kothari, formerly finance and operations manager, will now specialize in supporting organizational and people operations as operations manager. And we are excited to welcome Padma Umakanthan as our first specialized finance manager! This role will help LION move its increasingly complex financial management to new levels of proactivity.

Padma’s work will include:

  • Being in regular communication with teams about actual revenue and expense compared to budget
  • Maintaining an annual forecast
  • Supporting budgeting and financial planning
  • Managing accounts payable and receivable

After a decade managing engineering teams at Intel, Padma discovered her true calling in impact finance — partnering with mission-driven organizations to build the financial strength they need for lasting impact. She is energized by work that strengthens communities and creates meaningful change. A passionate advocate for public education, Padma serves on the board of educational nonprofits and volunteers regularly at her children’s schools. Outside work, you will find her cooking for friends and family or planning her next travel adventure.

By joining our team, Padma doubles LION’s Bay Area presence. She brings with her a wealth of professional experience and insights into nonprofit financial structures and practices. You can reach her at padmaumakanthan@lionpublishers.com.
