Manny Gonzales manages communications for the Latino Policy Forum, one of just a handful of nonprofits in American that manages coalitions that include nearly 100 organizations across Illinois that work to improve access to quality education, affordable housing, strengthen community leadership and promote just immigration policies.
Manny was a journalist for 15 years covering a variety of beats at daily newspapers in Denver, Seattle and San Antonio. His experience in the political arena and nonprofit and government sectors includes conducting public affairs for the 2010 Census as well as communications and media relations for environmental and civil rights nonprofits. In 2008 he provided communication and community/labor organizing support for Barack Obama’s presidential campaign, helped labor unions in Colorado defeat Right-to-Work.
Manny joined the Forum in 2016 to expand the organization’s visibility and leads the Forum’s Impacto Illinois campaign, which promotes civic engagement, informs community leaders and produces original news content about real people in the Latino community who are being ignored by mainstream media. .
