Jay Senter is a new-media entrepreneur with experience working in both traditional and interactive formats, and as both a journalist and a public relations professional.
He is the founder of the Shawnee Mission Post, the Kansas City area’s most successful hyperlocal news source.
As the Communications Manager of Common Sense Media, a national non-profit organization based in San Francisco, Senter led a team that more than tripled the rate of press coverage the organization received while simultaneously cutting departmental costs. He’s pitched stories that have appeared in the New York Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Los Angeles Times, and on the CBS Evening News and CNN. He proposed a recurring segment for the organization’s CEO that ran on Fox News for more than six months.
After returning from the Peace Corps with his wife in 2009, he became the founding Executive Editor of KCFreePress.com.
